The battery is exported to eu countries for CE UL and so on, according to your export market to certify.
The European Union's new battery and battery directive 2006/66/EC came into effect on September 26, 2008, with a range of battery packs, portable batteries, car batteries and industrial batteries.
Main contents of the new directive:
1. Modified the restrictions on the use of mercury and cadmium in batteries;
2. The label requirements of the new battery provide help for consumers' purchase and recycling;
3. Modified the label requirements of lead, mercury and cadmium;
4. Recovery target of discarded portable battery;
5. It is prohibited to bury and incinerate used batteries for industrial use and vehicles;
6. Increase the provisions of "producer responsibility";
7. The battery must be removed from the product (except for the safety, performance, medical or data integrity reasons that must be permanently connected to the battery);
8. From 26 September 2009, portable and car batteries should be labeled with capacity. The European commission is developing rules on the capacity label system;
9. Manufacturers (including manufacturers of products that sell batteries and batteries) need to be registered in each member country.
Restrictions on hazardous substances:
1. It is forbidden to produce and sell batteries or accumulators with mercury content exceeding 0.0005% (exempted products: the mercury content of button batteries shall not exceed 2% of the total amount);
2. It is forbidden to produce and sell portable batteries or accumulators with cadmium content exceeding 0.002% (exempted products: wireless power tools, medical equipment, emergency lighting equipment, emergency and alarm systems).
Label requirements:
All batteries, batteries, and button batteries should be marked with a cross - wheel bin. If the mercury content in product more than 0.0005%, or cadmium content more than 0.002%, or more than 0.004% lead, is zoned cross the pulley of the bin under the logo should be attached more than the chemical symbol of set limit to of that kind of metal, and the area accounted for the chemical symbol for at least rowed fork wheeled the bin symbol of a quarter. If the battery or battery contains more than one of the above metals, the corresponding chemical symbol is required. For example, a battery containing more than 0.004% lead (Pb) and more than 0.0005% mercury (Hg) should be added with Pb and Hg symbols.
1. The symbol shall cover 3% of the maximum area of the battery, battery or battery, but not more than 5 x 5 cm;
2. If the battery is cylindrical, the symbol shall cover 1.5% of the surface area of the battery or battery, and no greater than 5x5cm;
3. If because of the limited area, the size of the symbol may be less than 0.5 * 0.5 cm, batteries, battery or battery pack itself without annotation, but should be printed on the package area of not less than 1 x 1 cm related symbols;
4. The symbol should be clearly visible and cannot be erased.
Remark:
1. The limit value of mercury and cadmium is the same as that of the regulation. And Hg symbols actually is only applicable to button battery, Cd symbol is only applicable to be waiver of batteries and battery, mercury and cadmium content and/or exceed the limit value of other types of batteries and battery is banning the production and sales.
2. The batteries signed on September 26, 2008 can continue to be sold with no time limit. The battery sold on the market after this date should meet the requirements of the new directive.
3. According to the new cadmium limit, nickel-cadmium batteries can no longer be used (except for exempted products), so they can only be replaced by NiMH batteries or li-ion batteries.
4. Consumers should also be informed of the potential impact of these substances, the correct disposal methods, the details of the recycling and recycling programs, and the implications of the symbols.
